Lacy Sunny Baby Hat .pdf Pattern
0-3 month and 3-6 month sizes
I decided to make my hat pattern to try out a yarn I had found that I thought might be a good substitute for the Patons Astra yarn, which is really hard to find where I live. I discovered that I had not written a very good pattern. Granted it was one of my first, so I was cutting myself some slack, however, I could NOT leave the pattern as written.
I have modified the original pattern and separated it into 2 sizes; 0-3month and 3-6 month. I will be adding another link as soon as I have more sizes worked out and written up.
I hope the modified pattern is easier to make and the finished hats are more usable than the previous pattern.
Thanks everyone for your patience with me while I work this out.

Oh my goodness, the whole outfit, dress, hat, and booties are just darling-I bet that little girl will look darling in them! Thanks for visiting me.
ReplyDeleteThat is an ADORABLE outfit! LOVE your blog! I am lvg4him on ravelry. Got here from CLF. Thank you for the adorable hat pattern!
ReplyDeleteI made this hat! I worked it in Sugar 'n Cream cotton and a larger hook to make it adult sized. Will probably make it again, but adding a few rows here and there to shape it more for an adult head, lol.
ReplyDeleteYou can see it in amandapace's Ravelry projects.
Beth and Paula- Thanks for the compliments!
ReplyDeleteAmanda- Awesome! I'm so glad you made it your own!

thank you so much for posting this pattern. i hate following directions and counting stitches but i was successful in completing this hat today! i had to guess on some of the instructions and i actually was fearful that i was running out of yarn so i skipped a few rows. i also used a bigger hook than you suggested so i:m thinking a toddler will be wearing this! i:ll definitely be making this again and again!
ReplyDeletedo you have any easy to follow patterns for socks?
i:ll also be trying your frog hat too!
thanks again,
Lan
Hi Lan!
ReplyDeleteThanks for using my pattern! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I don't have any patterns for socks right now. I just haven't ventured into that area in crochet, yet. Let me know how you like the frog hat!

Excellent work, the outfit is absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI just want to thank you for this pattern. My great Gramma taught me how to crochet when I was 9. That was 21 years ago. She passed away when I was pregnant with my first daughter 10 years ago, my gramma passed. I have now taught my daughter how to crochet. I have never crocheted from a pattern before because I always found them difficult to read or look too difficult. I thank you so much for allowing me to share this art through the generations and I will begin to adventure out in the pattern world.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anita!
ReplyDeleteHayley, I'm so happy you chose my pattern to try out! I hope it works well for you. Let me know if you have any questions! I'm excited that you are passing your talent on to the upcoming generations. :)

Could you give us this pattern for women?
ReplyDeleteI love this pattern. However, i have a 1 year old granddaughter and i would like to make this for her. How would i increase the size to that of a 1 year old?
ReplyDeleteCould you give the pattern for an adult sun hat like this one?
ReplyDeleteJenny, I will rework the pattern for an adult size, but I am not sure when I will be able to get it completed. You may want to try a 4-ply worsted with an I hook until then.
ReplyDeleteLouise, I will also try to write a toddler pattern. Until I am able to get that completed, try a sport yarn with a G or H hook.
I am working this pattern now for my new baby niece. I am to row 12-13. I get row 12 but not sure on row 13 since there are no more hdc to go into. Do I work into the ch2. I'm new to crochet but so far the hat is turning out really cute although it looks like she will have to grow a but before wearing it :)
ReplyDeleteAmanda you would repeat row12 when you are working row13 but you would be going into sc's instead of hdc's.
ReplyDeleteThis hat is ADORABLE!!!! LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteJust made this hat for my son, only a bit larger. It'll be great for his first summer vacation :) Thank you. Greetings from Croatia

Thank you Amanda- will try with the yarn & hook you suggest. Gorgeous pattern!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, I'm so sorry - I called you "Amanda"by mistake.
ReplyDeleteI made this hat and it turned out extremely beautiful. Thanks for the pattern.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to my neck of the woods. PA transplant 28 years ago. Hope u like it as it DOES take bit of adjusting. Lots of folks from everywhere else. True Floridians are actually nicer. Lol. Thx for the awesome pattern. God bless!
ReplyDeleteI would like a pattern for 1 - 2 years old.
ReplyDeleteI need this adorable pattern for a one year old also. Her birthday is soon in June. Your patterns are just wonderful, and I, too, can relate well to the others who cannot read patterns well. They confuse me a lot. Your beanie/hat pattern I made back in the winter turned out great and it was my first one. Thanks for your sharing and giving to all of us that enjoy your talent. God Bless you!
ReplyDeleteHi love this hat and pattern is pretty much easy for a beginner like me but For some reason I am not quite getting row 9 on the bigger size hat I don't know what I could be doing wrong. Thank you
