Little Fox Square Pattern
by Elizabeth Mareno
Hi friends!
Continuing with last week's theme, I expanded the little squares set and designed three more. This is the Little Fox Square. The finished size is roughly 3.5-4", so it's not very big at all, and it won't take up all your patience with detailing, either!
Materials:
Scrap amounts (about 1/2 oz each) of fox color (sienna or reddish pumpkin), secondary color, and edge color.
#7/4.5mm hook
Large eye needle for weaving in ends.
Abbreviations US terms:
MR- magic ring
SC- single crochet
CH- chain
HDC- half double crochet
DC- double crochet
SL ST- slip stitch
Pattern US terms:
with fox color
R1- MR, 8 sc in magic ring. (8) pull center tight and join with first sc.
R2- ch1, 2sc in each sc around. (16) join with first sc.
R3- ch2 (does not count as hdc), hdc in same stitch as join, 2hdc in next, (hdc in next st, 2hdc in next) around to the end. (24hdc) join with first hdc, not the ch2. Cut and change color to secondary color.
R4- with secondary color, join in the join space with a ch3 (counts as a dc), (dc, ch2, 2dc) in the same join space, [*dc in 5sc,* (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in corner] 3x, repeat * to * once. join with first dc. (36) cut color.
R5- with edge color, join with a ch3 in a corner space, (dc, ch2, 2dc) in the same space, [*dc in 9*, (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in corner] 3x, repeat * to * once. (54) join. cut color.
Fox Ears: Working R to L- On Side 1, start with a sl st around the stitch with the first dot furthest to the right. Put 2dc around the next post (indicated with a 2). Make a picot (ch3, sl st in the first chain). Put 2dc around the next post (indicated with the second 2). Sl st around the stitch with the second dot from the right.
Sl st around the posts of the next 2 stitches, then start the "ear" again with the stitch with the third dot from the right.
Enjoy!!
