Materials List:
Worsted Weight #4 Cotton or Acrylic
Brand used in the Samples: I Love This Cotton, 100% Cotton,
(3.5oz/100g, 180yd/165m)
And I Love This Yarn, 100% Acrylic, (7oz/199g, 355yd/325m)
3 oz/87g of Main Color (Includes about ¾ of an oz for handles as well)
1 oz/29g of Color 1
1 oz/29g of Color 2
1 oz/29g of Accent Color
Finished Size: 9-1/4” W x 11” H
Hook: #7/4.5mm

4 Stitch markers/holders
Swirly Bottom Instructions:
Starting with Color 1
Round 1: MR, ch1, (sc, hdc, 4dc) in ring, put loop on
a stitch holder,
join color 2 in the MR and repeat as for color 1, put loop
on a stitch holder. (2 sc, 2 hdc, 8 dc)

There will be 6 stitches of each color. Pull
both tails to snug up the center a bit.
Round 2: Pick up the loop from color 1, put a dc in
the sc from color 2, place marker in dc, put another dc in the same stitch, 2dc
in each of the stitches to the next stitch holder, drop color 1, place a stitch
holder in the loop,
pick up the loop from color 2 and repeat the instructions
for color 1- placing your stitch markers in the color 2 stitches and loops. (24
dc)
Round 3: Pick up the loop from color 1, put a dc in
the next dc, place marker in dc, put another dc in the same dc and next dc,
(2dc in next, 1dc in next) repeat to the next marker, drop color 1, place a
stitch holder on the loop,
Pick up the loop from color 2 and repeat the instructions
for color 1- placing your stitch markers in the color 2 stitches and loops. (36
dc)
Round 4: Pick up the loop from color 1, put a dc in
the next dc, place marker in dc, put another dc in the same dc and next 2 dc,
(2dc in next, 1dc in 2) repeat to the next marker, drop color 1, place a stitch
holder on the loop,
Pick up the loop from color 2 and repeat the instructions
for color 1- placing your stitch markers in the color 2 stitches and loops. (48
dc)
Round 5: Pick up the loop from color 1, put a dc in
the next dc, place marker in dc, put another dc in the same dc and next 3 dc,
(2dc in next, 1dc in 3) repeat to the next marker, drop color 1, place a stitch
holder on the loop,
Pick up the loop from color 2 and repeat the instructions
for color 1- placing your stitch markers in the color 2 stitches and loops. (60
dc)
Round 6: Pick up the loop from color 1, put a dc in the next dc, place marker in dc, put another dc in the same dc and next 4 dc, (2dc in next, 1dc in 4) repeat to the next marker, drop color 1, place a stitch holder on the loop,
Pick up the loop from color 2 and repeat the instructions
for color 1- placing your stitch markers in the color 2 stitches and loops. (72
dc)
Round 7: Pick up the loop from color 1, put a dc in
the next dc, place marker in dc, put another dc in the same dc and next 5 dc,
(2dc in next, 1dc in 5) repeat to the next marker, drop color 1, place a stitch
holder on the loop,
Pick up the loop from color 2 and repeat the instructions
for color 1- placing your stitch markers in the color 2 stitches and loops. (84
dc)
STOP HERE- finishing instructions for each
color, dc in 2dc, hdc in 2dc, sc in 2dc, sl st in 2dc, cut colors and weave
ends. Continue with Side Instructions.
Round 8: join w/ch2 (does not count as a st) in any
open stitch from the previous round, dc in the join st and each st around the
base. (84 dc)
Place loop on a stitch holder.

In the space between the bottom and the first
round of the side- sl st a decorative row using your Accent Color. (The blue
row in the picture.)
Place loop back on the hook.
Round 9: ch3 (cts as hdc + ch1), sk1, hdc in next st,
(ch1, sk1, hdc in next) around. (42 hdc, 42 ch-1 sp)
Round 10: ch2, dc in join, dc in
each ch-1 sp and hdc around. (84 dc)
Round 11: ch2, dc in join, dc in each dc around. (84
dc)
Place loop on a stitch holder.

Sl st between the last two rounds.
Place loop back on the hook.
Round 12: ch2, dc in join, dc in each dc around. (84
dc)
Place loop on a stitch holder.

Sl st between the last two rounds.
Place loop back on the hook.
Rounds 13-15: repeat Rounds 9-11
Round 16: ch2, dc in join and next 4, dc dec, (dc in
5, dc dec) around. (72 dc)
Place loop on a stitch holder.

Sl st between the last two rounds.
Place loop back on the hook.
Rounds 17 & 18: Repeat Rounds 9 & 10 (Rd 17-
36 hdc, 36 ch-1 sp/ Rd 18- 72 dc)
Round 19: ch2, dc in join and next 3, dc dec, (dc in 4,
dc dec) around. (60 dc)
Round 20: ch2, dc in join and each dc around. (60 dc)
Round 21: ch5 (cts as tr + ch1), sk1, tr in next,
(ch1, sk1, tr in next) around. (30 tr, 30 ch-1 sp)
Round 22: ch2, dc in join, dc in each ch-1 sp and tr
around. (60 dc)
Round 23: ch1, rev sc in each dc around.
Cut yarn and weave ends.
Make 2 straps with 80 “bars”. Weave each handle in Round 21
separately and sew ends together to secure.
Handle Instructions:
Ch3, sc in second loop from hook and next
ch, do not ch1, turn and work in the side loops of the 1st sc.
Do not chain, turn and work in the side loops of the previous sc until you reach desired length.

Optional Flower Pattern:
With Center Color, MR, 10 sc in ring. (10 sc) join and cut
color
With Petal Color, join in any sc, [(ch2, dc, tr) in sc, (tr,
dc, ch2, join) in next sc] repeat until you have 5 petals. Join and cut leaving
a long end for attaching.
