Happy crocheting! 🧶✨

Materials:
1 to 1-1/2 oz Baby Weight (used Bernat Baby Sport)
1 to 1-1/2 oz Worsted Weight (used Caron Simply Soft Party)
Size F hook for baby weight
Size G hook for worsted weight
Yarn needle for sewing ends or seaming
Stitch markers (optional)
Gauge: (baby wt/size F hook)- 10 hdc x 8 rows = 2” x 2”
(worsted wt/size G hook)- 8 hdc x 6 rows = 2” x 2”
Finished Size: 13” circumference x 5.5” long
Pattern Terminology:
ch- chain / sc- single crochet / sl st- slip st / hdc- half double crochet / fphdc- front post half double crochet / bphdc- back post half double crochet
Pattern: Baby Weight, F Hook
Note: ch2 does not make a hdc in this pattern, so always work in the chain space for each new row. Join each row with a slip stitch.
Row 2: ch2, 2hdc in each hdc around. (16)
Row 3: ch2, (hdc in 1, 2hdc in next) repeat around. (24)
Row4: ch2, (hdc in 2, 2hdc in next) repeat around. (32)
Row 5: ch2, (hdc in 3, 2hdc in next) repeat around. (40)
Row 6: ch2, (hdc in 4, 2hdc in next) repeat around. (48)
Row 7: ch2, (hdc in 5, 2hdc in next) repeat around. (56)
At this point your hat should measure 4” from side to side of the circle. If it’s a little over try making row 7 a single crochet row following the same increase instructions. If it is too short, do an extra row following the established increase pattern of one extra stitch between the double hdc’s.
Rows 8-13: ch2, hdc in each hdc around.
Hat should be 3-3/4” long from the top of the hat at this point. If you are striping, now is the time to change the color. If you are not striping, continue crocheting each row in hdc’s until the hat reaches 5-1/4” in length. If you are in gauge, that should be about 18 rows. Then, skip right to the ribbing instructions to finish.
Striping instructions:
Row 14: with second color, ch2, hdc in each hdc around.
Row 15: ch1, sc in each hdc around.
Row 16: reattach main color, ch2, hdc in each sc around.
Row 17-18: ch2, hdc in each hdc around.
Your hat should measure about 5-1/4” by now.
Ribbing instructions:
Row 19: ch2, (fphdc around 2hdc , bphdc around 2hdc) repeat around. Join with the first fphdc.
Row 20: repeat row 19.
Finish off. Weave ends.
Your hat should be 5-1/2” long.
Pattern: Worsted Weight, G hook
Note: ch2 does not make a hdc in this pattern, so always work in the chain space for each new row. Join each row with a slip stitch.
Rows 1-5: Use pattern for Baby Weight hat.
Row 6: ch1, (sc in 4, 2sc in next) repeat around. (48)
At this point your hat should measure 4” from side to side of the circle.
Row 7: ch2, hdc in each sc.
Rows 8-14: ch2, hdc in each hdc.
Row 9-10: ch2, (fphdc around 2hdc, bphdc around 2hdc) repeat around.
After row 10 your hat should be 5-1/2” long.
Cut and weave ends.
