Happy Scrappy Wipes Cover

My Mother in Law/second Mom requested that I make her some covers for her disinfectant wipes because they leave them out for easy access in their house. This way, they can stay out and not be an eye sore. These are great for busting your stash, as usual, and they are super simple to make! Of course, you can decorate them with any appliques you would like- the flower pattern is included.

Happy Scrappy Wipes Cover

by Elizabeth Mareno

Materials:

Worsted Weight yarn- Samples used Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn, Lion Brand Heartland, and Caron Simply Soft.

MC- 1 oz

CC1- .5 oz

CC2- .5 oz

Accent color & flowers- Small bits- less than a 1/2 oz each.

Hook & Notions:

#7/4.50mm Hook

Large Eye Needle for weaving ends and applying flowers

Gauge: #7 hook & WW yarn- 16sc x 17 rows = 4" x 4"

Rounds 1- 5 should be 4.75" before moving on.

NOTE: Beginning chains do not count as stitches throughout.

I cut my colors and striped them after rounds 10, 14, & 18. I usually choose my MC by whatever I have the most of because that requires a little more, but you can use up a lot of miscellaneous balls of yarn this way.

Pattern:

Round 1- MR, ch3, 12 dc in ring, pull ring tight, join with 1st dc. (12dc)

Round 2- ch2, 2dc in join and each stitch around, join with 1st dc. (24dc)

Round 3- ch2, dc in join, 2dc in next, (dc, 2dc in next) around, join with 1st dc. (36dc)

Round 4- ch2, dc in join and next, 2dc, (dc in 2, 2dc in next) around, join with 1st dc. (48dc)

Round 5- ch1, sc in join and next 2, 2sc, (sc in 3, 2sc in next) around, join with 1st sc. (60sc)

Round 6- ch1, bpsc in each st around, join with 1st bpsc. (60 bpsc)

Round 7- ch3, dc in join and each sc around, join with 1st dc. (60dc)

Round 8-22- Repeat Round 7.

Finishing:
Lines between colors: top stitch using a sl st in the tops of dc's between stripes. Make sure you keep your line color inside the cover and pull through to the front. Commence with sl stitching in the top of each stitch around.

Flowers: Uses two colors;  A and B. Make as many as you wish- the sample has 2.
Rd 1: With color A, MR, ch1, 10 sc in the ring, pull snug and join with 1st sc. (10sc) cut color

Rd 2: With color B, join in join with ch2, in the same space- dc and tr, in the next sp- tr, dc, ch2, sl st, *sl st in next st, (ch2, dc, tr) in same st, (tr, dc, ch2, sl st) in next st; repeat from * 3 more times, cut color leaving a long end for sewing to the cover. (5 petals)
