Fireside Christmas Sampler Blanket

Fireside Christmas Sampler Blanket
Free Crochet Pattern

by Elizabeth Mareno

The Fireside Christmas Sampler Blanket is a free Sampler Blanket crochet pattern on Nana's Crafty Home! I am so excited about this pattern for so many reasons!

When Tonya at Nana's Crafty Home told me that she wanted to partner with me to bring this awesome free pattern to her blog I was so blessed and honored to get the chance to work with her! I hope it's going to be a trend!

For this pattern, I am also providing a complete video tutorial for you which you can find at the bottom of this post. Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube Channel to get notified when I post a new video!

This pattern is also available to purchase as an ad-free, printable PDF! Just click a box below:

The first Christmas sampler blanket I made was in 2018 and it was called the Ugly Christmas Sweater Sampler Blanket. It has been one of my most popular sampler blanket patterns and I recently made it available for free here on the blog. If you have already made that one, then you are going to LOVE the Fireside Christmas Blanket!

While making this pattern I learned that not all plaids are the same. If you want a traditional Buffalo Plaid, you will need to stick to the red and black theme (blanket picture above). If you are wanting to stray from that color combination and do something else, it will be considered a Gingham check. Why didn't I know this before? I've called all of my previous plaid renditions "Buffalo" (because I thought it was just the thickness of the plaid not the colors)...but, not anymore! I created two versions of the blanket so you could see what each style would look like. This is the Gingham version (my hubby chose the colors):

Between both blankets I used Hobby Lobby's I Love This Yarn and I Love This Yarn Prints. ILTY is my favorite go-to worsted weight yarn for making blankets. It is consistent and soft, plus it has an amazing array of colors available. However, if you are not a fan of ILTY or don't have it available, I also love Basic Stitch Anti Pilling Yarn by LionBrand, Premier Anti-Pilling Yarn, and Premier Basix Yarn. * All three yarns are available in a wide variety of colors, they are nice to work with, and make beautiful finished projects that will last you a nice long time! To find all of my favorite Amazon items including hooks, notions, and tools head on over to my Amazon storefront *! I include personal pictures so you can see my favorites in action!

*This post contains affiliate links. You can click on any yarn or material highlighted to purchase. I will receive a small commission if you purchase, but it won't cost you any extra.

While I was choosing my yarn for the video tutorial version of the Fireside Christmas Sampler I knew that I wanted to create a really warm and cozy story with the combination of stitches and colors. I really leaned on the yarns that had a gold undertone to help convey the idea of sitting beside the fireplace on a cold, wintery evening while the Christmas lights glow softly and you're surrounded by those you hold dearest to your heart. This blanket is amazingly thick and snuggly. Perfect for chilly winter nights and snuggles with your loved ones.
