Color 2 #01044- True Grey- 2 oz/58yds- Loops & Threads Impeccable, 100% Acrylic, (4.5oz/127.5g, 285yd/260m)

SK- skip

[ … ], { … }, * … *- work instructions between brackets/ asterisks the number of times stated, or as instructed

( … )- work instructions between parentheses in the indicated st or sp;

* … ; work instructions after * the number of times stated or as instructed


Notes:

1.     Similar #4 weight yarns may be substituted; please check gauge.

2.     The square is worked in the round with the RS facing throughout.

3.     Ch-3 at the start of the round does not count as a dc, unless otherwise indicated.

4.     Ch-2 at the start of the round does not count as a hdc.

5.     Ch-1 at the start of the round does not count as a sc.

 

Pattern:

Always have the RS facing you when joining new colors to your work.
Starting with Color 1.

Rd 1: (RS) MR, ch2, 12 dc in ring. (12 dc)

Rd 2: ch3 (cts as dc), (2dc, ch2, 3dc) in the join space, [sk2 dc, (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in the next dc] 3x, sk2 dc, join. (24 dc, 4 ch-2 corners)

Rd 3: ch1, sc in the join sp and each dc to the next corner, *(sc, ch2, sc) in the corner sp, sc in each dc; repeat from * around the square, join with the first sc. (8 sc per side)

Rd 4: ch1, bpsc around the joining st and each sc to the next corner, *(sc, ch2, sc) in the corner sp, bpsc around each sc; repeat from * around the square, join with the first sc. (10 bpsc per side)

Cut Color 1. Using Color 2, Join any corner sp with a Stsc.

Rd 5: ch2, sc in the corner sp, *sc in each st, (sc, ch2, sc) in the corner sp; repeat from * to the last side finishing with a sc in each st to the join, join with the first sc. (12 sc per side)

Cut Color 2. Using Color 1, Join in any corner sp with a STsc.

Rd 6: ch2, sc in the corner sp, *ch1, sk1 sc, sc in the next sc across to the next corner**, (sc, ch2, sc) in the corner sp; repeat from * around the square ending at ** on the final side, join with the first sc. (8 sc, 6 ch-1 sp per side)

Cut Color 1. Using Color 2, Join in any corner sp with a STsc.

Rd 7: ch2, sc in the corner sp, [*{sc in the next sc, working around the ch-1- hdc in the open sc from Rd5} 6x, sc in the last 2 sc*, (sc, ch2, sc) in the corner sp] 3x, repeat from * to * once, join with the first st. (10 sc, 6 hdc per side)

Cut Color 2. Using Color 1, Join in any corner sp with a STdc.

Rd 8: ch3, dc in the corner sp, [*{sk2 st, 3dc in the next st} 5x, sk1 st*, (dc, ch3, dc) in the corner sp] 3x, repeat * to * once, join with first st. (17 dc per side)

Rd 9: sl st to the corner, ch1, [(2sc, ch2, 2sc) in the corner sp, sc in each dc] 4x, join with the first sc. (21 sc per side)

Rds 10: sl st to the corner, ch1, [(sc, ch2, sc) in the corner sp, bpsc around 21 sc] 4x, join with the first sc. (21 bpsc, 2 sc per side)

Cut Color 1. Using Color 2, Join in any corner sp with a STsc.

Rd 11: ch2, sc in the corner sp, [*sc in each st*, (sc, ch2, sc) in the corner sp] 3x, repeat * to * once, join with first sc. (25 sc per side)

Cut Color 2. Using Color 1, Join in any corner sp with a STsc.

Rd 12: ch2, sc in the corner sp, [*ch1, sk1, sc in the next sc across to the last sc, ch1, sk1* (sc, ch2, sc) in the corner sp] 3x, repeat * to * once, join with the first sc. (14 sc, 13 ch-1 sp per side)

Cut Color 1. Using Color 2, Join in any corner sp with a STsc.

Rd 13: ch2, sc in the corner sp, [*{sc in the next sc, working around the ch-1- hdc in the sc from Rd11} 13x, sc in the last sc*, (sc, ch2, sc) in the corner sp] 3x, repeat * to * once, join with the first sc. (16 sc, 13 hdc per side)

Cut Color 2. Using Color 1, Join in any corner sp with a STdc.

Rd 14: ch3, dc in the corner sp, [*{sk2, 3dc in the next st} 9x, sk2*, (dc, ch3, dc) in the corner sp] 3x, repeat * to * once, join with the first dc. (29 dc per side)

Rd 15: sl st to the corner, ch1, [(2sc, ch2, 2sc) in the corner sp, sc in each dc] 4x, join with the first sc. (33 sc per side)

Rd 16: ch1, bpsc around the joining st and the next sc, [(sc, ch2, sc) in the corner sp, bpsc around each sc] 4x, join with the first sc. (2 sc, 33 bpsc per side)

Cut Color 1. Using Color 2, Join in any corner sp with a STsc.

Rd17: ch2, sc in the corner sp, [*sc in each st*, (sc, ch2, sc) in the corner sp] 3x, repeat * to * once, join with first sc. (37 sc per side)

Cut Color 2. Using Color 1, Join in any corner sp with a STsc.

Rd18: ch2, sc in the corner sp, [*ch1, sk1, sc in the next sc across to the last sc, ch1, sk1* (sc, ch2, sc) in the corner sp] 3x, repeat * to * once, join with the first sc. (20 sc, 19 ch-1 sp per side)

Cut Color 1. Using Color 2, Join in any corner sp with a STsc.

Rd19: ch2, sc in the corner sp, [*{sc in the next sc, working around the ch-1- hdc in the sc from Rd17} 19x, sc in the last sc*, (sc, ch2, sc) in the corner sp] 3x, repeat * to * once, join with the first sc. (22 sc, 19 hdc per side)

Cut Color 2. Using Color 1, Join in any corner sp with a STsc.

Rd20: ch2, sc in the corner sp, *sc in each st, (sc, ch2, sc) in the corner sp; repeat from * to the last side finishing with a sc in each st to the join, join with the first sc.  (43 sc per side)

Cut your yarn and weave in your ends.
