It is loosely based upon the shirtwaist dress styles of the 50's. I love this pattern. I hope you do too. :)

Materials:
6 oz Soft Yellow Caron Simply Soft Yarn.
1-2 oz White Bernat Softee Baby Yarn.
F Hook
3- 3/4" buttons
(preferably shank)
Yarn needle

Gauge:
18 sc/20 rows = 4"x4" square.

Dress Bodice:
1- ch 46, sc in 2nd ch from hk and in each ch across (45sc)
2-9- ch1, turn, sc in ea sc.

Left Front:
1(WS)- ch1, turn, sc in 8 sc.
2- repeat row 1
3- ch1, turn, sc in 6 sc, sc dec (7)
4-6- ch1, turn, sc in each.
7- ch1, turn, sc dec, sc in each (WS) (6)
8- ch1, turn, sc in 4 sc, sc dec (5)
9- ch1, turn, sc dec, sc in 3 sc(4)
10-11- ch1, turn, sc in ea.
finish off.

Back:
1- (WS facing) sk 5 sc on row 9 of bodice, join with sc to next sc, sc in 18 sc (19) leave rem sc unworked.
2-9- ch1, turn, sc in each sc (19)

Skirt:
1- (RS facing) attach yarn with sl st to any sc under left armhole. ch1, sc in same st, sc in ea sc around to button panel. sc in 1st row end of button-hole panel, (then through both panels) sc in each row end and remaining sc around. attach with sl st to first sc. (50)
2- ch2, do not turn, hdc in same st as join, hdc in next sc, (2hdc in next sc, hdc in next sc) around. Join with sl st to ch2. (75)

Lace Overlay:
1- On remaining loops of row 6 of skirt, attach sc anywhere with white baby yarn. sc in each loop around, join with sl st.
2- ch1, sc in join, (ch5, sk 2 sc, sc in next) around to last 3 sc, ch5, sk 2sc, sc in last sc, join with sl st to first sc.
3-15- sl st in first 3 ch on ch5, ch1,( sc in ch5 sp, ch5) around, join with sl st to first sc.
finish off, weave in ends.

Sleeves:
1- Join with sc to any st on row 9 of bodice. Sc in each rem sc and in the ends of rows around. sc dec in two bottom corners. sl st to first sc (28 sc)
2- ch1, sc in same st as join, (ch4, sk sc, sc in next) around, join with sl st to first sc.
3-5- sl st in 2 ch of ch4, ch1, sc in ch4 sp, then repeat row 2 around.

Row 2 goes like this: ch3, (this counts as a dc), turn, dc in the next 5dc. Then put 2dc in the next dc. Then work the series of stitches in the parentheses a total of 4 times. Then dc in the next 14dc, then repeat the stitches that fall between the asterisks * one more time starting with 2dc in the first stitch and repeating the series of stitches in the parentheses 4 times. Then finish by putting a dc in the last 6dc.

Ok, here it is (finally) for all of you who have requested this pattern. I do apologize at how pokey I've been getting it posted.

Big Girl Backpack

Materials:

WW yarn- scraps work great- about 1/2 skn.

H hook

Yarn needle for assembly

BASIC-ONE COLOR

**do not join rounds unless stated**

ch37

Row 1- sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across (36) (do not ch1), work down the opposite side of the starting ch, sc in each ch. (72sc)

**from here you start working in a circle, so mark your first sc of your first row and keep moving it up as you go.

Row 2-42 sc in each sc around.

Row 43- ch3 (cts as dc and ch1), (sk sc, dc in next sc, ch1) around to last sc, join with 2nd ch of ch3. (36 ch1sp)

Row 44-ch1, sc in sm st as join, sc in each sc and ch1 around, join with first sc and finish off. tuck in ends. (72sc)

TIES: make 2

ch101, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Fasten off leaving long end for sewing.

Assembling ties: First tie, weave over and under through dc. Sew ends together, pull on opposite end to hide. Do the opposite for second tie.

STRAPS: make 2

Holding 2 strands throughout, ch5

Row 1- sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across (4sc)

Row 2-47- ch1, turn, sc in each sc.

Row 48- drop one strand, ch1, turn, sc in each sc and row end around, putting 3sc in each corner.

Strap placement: Approx 3sc from edge, 3rows down (top) and 3 rows up(bottom) sew ends into place using a whipstitch.

"CHECK" Pattern:

Follow basic pattern through row18, 19th row (sc 2, chg color, sc 2, chg color) repeat around(carry the unused color in your sc all the way around, this will keep the inside of the bag neat). There will be one sc off at the end of the row.

Repeat this pattern for one more row, then switch to the next color for another 10 rows. Repeat check pattern for 2 rows, switching colors again for 5 more rows. Do the check pattern one more time, finishing with 3 rows.

Complete with the basic top, ties and straps.

This pattern is great to have fun with! Use lots of scraps and make it striped. Or mess around and see what kind of pattern you can come up with!

Row2-7- sc in each sc around. Place marker @ first sc of row 2 to help keep count.
Row 8- (chg to green, sc in 3sc, chg to pink, sc in 3sc) around to last 2sc, chg to green, sc in last 2sc, cut pink.
Row 9-11- with green sc in each sc around.
Row 12- (chg to pink, sc in 3sc, chg to grn, sc in 3sc) around to last 2sc, chg to pink, sc in last 2sc. Cut green.
Row 13-14- with pink sc in each sc around.
Row 15- ch3, (sk next sc, dc in next sc, ch1) around, sl st to ch2 of ch3. (13 ch1 spc)
