Stitch of the Week #6- Heart Stitch

Materials Needed:

 2oz total- #4/Worsted Weight Cotton (used I Love This Cotton by Hobby Lobby)
#7/4.5 mm Hook
Lg eye needle for weaving ends
Scissors

Colors: You will want the Main Color (MC) and Heart Colors (HC)

Finished size: 9” W x 9” H

Abbreviations- US terms:

Ch- chain
cts- counts
dc- double crochet
sc- single crochet
sk- skip
sp- spacest- stitch
yo- yarn over

Special Stitches:

2dc Bobble- (yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops) 2x, yo, pull through all loops on hook.

3dc Bobble- (yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops) 3x, yo, pull through all loops on hook. 

 Pattern:

R1- with Main Color (MC) ch 38, dc in the fourth ch from the hook and the remaining chains. (36 dc) Cut MC

R2- turn your piece, with Heart Color (HC), join into the first dc with a ch3 (cts as a dc), 2dc Bobble in the first dc, [ch3, sk 6, (3dc Bobble, ch2, 3dc Bobble) in the next st] across to the last, 3dc Bobble in the last st. (4 full heart motifs and 2 singles) Cut HC

R3- turn your piece, with MC, join into the first bobble with a ch1, [sc in the bobble, (ch2, sk 2 dc from R1, dc into the next 2 dc, ch2, sk 2dc from R1, sc in the next ch2 sp) across, ch2, sk 2dc from R1, dc in the next 2, ch2, sk 2dc from R1, sc in the last bobble. (16 st, 10 ch2 sp) DO NOT Cut MC

R4- ch3, turn, put 2 dc in each ch2 sp, each dc, and each sc across. (36 dc)

R5-19- Repeat R2-4

EDGE:

R1- ch1, turn, sc in each dc across the top, ch2, turn to the side, put 2sc in each dc row end and 1 sc in each sc row end, ch2, turn to the bottom, sc in each foundation ch to the opposite corner, ch2, turn on the second side- repeat as for firs side. Sc in the same space as the first sc, ch2, join. (36 sc across the top and bottom, 32 sc on each side)

R2- ch1, sc in each sc around, putting sc, ch2, sc in each corner ch2 space. (38 sc across the top and bottom, 34 sc on each side)

Materials Needed:

 1.5oz total- #4/Worsted Weight Cotton 
(used Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton & Scheepjes Cahlista)
#7/4.5 mm Hook
Lg eye needle for weaving ends
Scissors

Finished size: 8” W x 7.5” H


Abbreviations- US terms:

Ch- chain
dc- double crochet
sk- skip
sp- space
yo- yarn over

Pineapple Cluster (Pc): (Yo, insert hook into indicated space, yo, pull up a loop) 3 times, yo, pull through all loops except the last loop, yo, pull through 2 loops.

ch3 counts as dc throughout.

 Pattern:

R1- ch 36, Pc in 4th ch from the hook, (ch1, sk next ch, Pc in next ch) across to last 2 ch, ch1, sk 1, dc in the last ch. (16 Pc)

R2- ch3, turn, (Pc in the next ch1, ch1, sk next Pc) across, dc in the top of the ch3 from R1. (16 Pc)  

R3-12- repeat R2. (or until the desired length)

Do not cut the yarn after R12.

Edging:
Top:ch1, turn, sc in each Pc and ch1 sp across the top of the cloth, ch2 for the corner,
Side1: sc in the same sp as the last sc from the top plus one sc in the end of the first row, 2 sc in each row end down the remainder of the side-putting the last sc of the side into the first ch of the bottom, ch2 for the corner
Bottom: sc in the same sp as the last sc from the side, sc in each Pc and ch1 sp across the bottom, ch2 for the corner
Side2: sc in the same sp as the last sc from the top plus one sc in the end of the first row, 2 sc in each row end down the remainder of the side-putting the last sc of the side into the first sc from the Top, ch2, join with the first sc.

Cut yarn.
