Walk in the Woods Sampler Pattern

Hey everyone!

I'm so proud to announce that my Walk in the Woods Sampler pattern has been published in the October 2020 Happily Hooked Magazine Rustic Red issue #79! You can find it on page 91...

You can get your copy of this issue through Ravelry!

This blanket is all about taking a walk through the woods. It starts with a tartan plaid in the center and from there we work simple cables, basketweave, shell mushrooms, cable owls, 3d animal squares, bobble acorns, front post tree bark, and gorgeous leaf clusters at the edge.

There is so much texture and fun happening in this blanket. But, I will warn that it is an advanced pattern due to the many stitches and assembly. It is a generously sized blanket at 56"-59". It started out as a baby blanket design and became so much more! Haha!

The Christmas Around the World blanket was created for the 2019 Bizzy Crochet CAL (crochet along) on Facebook. We had 2K+ participants this year!

This pattern is broken down into weeks so that it is easier for you to find the corresponding videos (links in the pattern) that go to the written pattern. This year's blanket had an "around the world" theme, so I focused on bringing elements that were popular to more than one country in order to honor our multi-cultured Facebook CAL Group. The themes represented are: Poinsettia, Pines/Pinecones, Christmas Candles, Christmas Sweaters, Christmas Puddings, Nativity- sheep, angels, creche and palm trees, Christmas Ribbons/Crackers, Christmas Wreaths, Santa, Christmas Pickle.

We had lots of people use alternative colors and call the sections something else if they didn't celebrate Christmas. Because the stitches are so diverse, you can make this blanket read any story that you would like to tell. It's all about creating a memory that you would like to share.

This pattern includes a bonus pillow pattern for a 12" x 12" accent pillow that features a globe.

Here are samples of the different color schemes. Information has been included for each one in the pattern notes.:

Niamh made hers in DK weight Scheepjes Colour Crafter.

Theresa made hers from her stash using a variety of jewel-toned worsted weight yarns.

Vannessa used a Dr. Seuss/Grinch color palette for her sample.
A line-by-line graph is available in the pattern so you can repeat her exact look, if you would like.

I went for a very Boho Chic look when I designed the original blanket. When I thought about traveling around the world I thought about worn out leather satchels and faded colors. That is what inspired the original color scheme for this blanket. This picture also shows the bonus pillow pattern included in the full download.
