Are you ready to embark on a heartwarming journey that combines the joy of crochet with the nostalgia of cherished memories? Well, get those hooks ready because I'm thrilled to introduce you to the Memories Blanket Crochet Along (CAL)!
The Memories CAL was dreamt up by myself and my good friend Debbie of Madamestitch. We were trying to think of ways that we could combine our two very different personal styles into one pattern, and I think we did a pretty bang-up job!
Debbie has a very smooth, calm design style and mine is more textured and a little bit crazy. Haha! But, that's what makes this pattern so much fun. It's both calming and challenging.
Here's the theme! Why is it called Memories?
Picture this: cozying up on the couch, surrounded by an array of colorful yarn scraps, each one holding a story of its own. Whether it's the remnants of that adorable baby blanket you made for your niece or the leftover yarn from your best friend's cozy winter scarf, these bits and pieces carry a piece of your crafting history.
But here's the twist – this time, it's all about you. Yes, you heard that right! With the Memories Blanket CAL, we are inviting you to dive into your stash yarn or unearth those forgotten scraps from past projects and transform them into a beautiful blanket just for yourself.
As you crochet each stitch, hopefully, you'll be reminiscing about the times you spent creating gifts for loved ones. Each square will be a reflection of the love, care, and creativity you've poured into your previous projects. And as you weave in those memories, you'll be crafting a new one – a memory of self-love and self-care.
The concept is simple yet profound: as you wrap yourself in the blanket you've created, you'll be wrapping yourself in the love you've shared with others. It's a reminder that you deserve to be cherished just as much as those you've crafted for in the past.
How is it constructed?
The blanket construction will include strips of granny squares (Deb's influence) using four different square patterns and 5 highly textured sections in between the strips (Biz's influence). We rounded the pattern off with a simple Linen/Moss Stitch for the border so that your eyes can concentrate on all the beauty in the middle.
The only caution I'm going to throw out there is that this is definitely an Intermediate level blanket. There will be a few video tutorials available in strategic spots, but I won't have a full video tutorial for the whole blanket like I normally do. You will need to make sure that you are already familiar with crochet before making this one. BUT!!! Don't let this hold you back if you aren't at an Intermediate crochet level...because you know I'll never leave you hanging! Make sure you're in the Bizzy Crochet's CAL Group on Facebook so you can post questions and get lots of help- and you know I'm always available.
Here's how the CAL will run:
